Most certainly. This is my first Kickstarter but I have been involved in the writing, development and design of dozens of game books and I’m intimately familiar with all of the associated difficulties. Getting this book in your hands, on time, is my number one priority!

Will Spirit in the Machine PDF backers also receive stretch goals?
Spirit in the Machine PDF backers will receive all PDF stretch goals, but not physical stretch goals. I neglected to list this, but that is an error. My apologies, this is my first Kickstarter and mistakes were bound to happen.

What about shipping costs?
Shipping costs have increased a lot over the past few years. We’re still in the midst of the fallout from the pandemic and other global issues could affect shipping costs. That said, shipping costs have been fairly stable as of late so we are hopeful that things will remain at least close to our current estimate.

How much of the book is complete?
The core rules and systems are complete. There is some setting and Narrator material yet to be written. The book will be ready for editing very soon.

Early America is a difficult period. How are you handling that?
The parts of the book that deal with the First Nations are being written by an Indigenous writer and the book will pass through a sensitivity reader before publication.

Why are you only shipping to the US and Canada?
First, my sincerest apologies. I really wish we could. The current state of the world and the current issues with international shipping make shipping overseas extremely difficult for indie publishers. This is my first Kickstarter and I have been advised by every other indie publisher I know to not ship overseas. The risks are simply too great. Larger companies can afford to soak the risk, but for an indie publisher such as myself, it could be catastrophic. Also, the current shipping costs from the US to the UK are insane. It could cost nearly as much as the book just to ship it.
I am going to be working with my distributor, Studio 2, to get the books into the UK and EU markets. It’s my understanding that they do fairly well with that. When the book is published, request it from your local game shop and let them know they can get it through Studi 2. I am also going to be looking into Print on demand options through DriveThruRPG.
If you’re in the UK or EU and are interested in Nevermore I suggest backing it at the PDF level and then seek it out at a game shop after publication. Backing at the PDF level and purchasing the book retail later will actually be cheaper than paying for shipping. Again, my apologies and thank you for your understanding.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
